SMALL AIRPORT SECURITY

In a post September 11 world, it is important for the general aviation community to participate in airport security. In light of this, the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA) has introduced the “Airport Watch” program. Not unlike a neighborhood watch, it is a program to alert the aviation community about various scenarios, and to report such scenarios or any other suspicious activity.

ACCESS CONTROL

Access control is a means of controlling the entry and exit of people or vehicles in and out of a protected area. Sounds simple enough, however, the need to know what is going on in a building gets more and more complex. A well-designed access system will do a very good job of letting the right people in and keeping the wrong ones out.

So what is available? There are quite a few choices, and it can be difficult to grasp what is best. But remember: no decent access control system is ready to go right out of the box, so be prepared to have a lot of questions.

In this technology-driven day and age, information is being converted to electronic format, which can be easily stored, transferred and accessed. Companies can now move their data everywhere. The convenience is immeasurable but more difficult to monitor and regulate. With the rise of mobile computing, it is easier than ever for data leakage to occur. No matter the reason, the consequences that result from the loss of sensitive data can be extremely detrimental to a company’s operations and reputation.
